2017 saw the first Blairgowrie Drive It Day attract 70 classic cars for a memorable driving experience raising £17,500 for charities.
2018 entrants will again be asked to assemble at Blairgowrie Golf Club at 9am where coffee and bacon rolls will be available (£5). After a briefing at 9.30am cars will be waved off through Blairgowrie and up Glenshee to Braemar.
Then on towards Banchory on the beautiful B976 with an optional loop over Geallaig Hill rejoining the main route at our lunch stop at the imposing Raemoir House (£8.50 a head).
From Banchory the route takes the B974 over the Angus hills to Cairn O’Mount and Fettercairn. Brechin comes next, then Forfar and Kirriemuir before returning to Blairgowrie. And finally supper (at £15 a head), prize giving, raffle and auction at Scone Palace.
Please note that there will be two route options. Participants can choose on the day if they prefer the 25 mile shorter route.
* Every year Drive It Day is purposefully held on the Sunday nearest to the 23rd April. Why? Because it commemorates the 64 cars that left London on the first day of the Thousand Mile Trial on 23 April 1900.
